Christof Hamann

Christof Hamann, born in 1966 in Überlingen on Lake Constance, is a writer and literary scholar. In 2013, he became Professor of Modern German Literature and Literature Education at the University of Cologne. His academic work includes studies of German-language literature from the eighteenth century to the present, as well as research on literature education, discourses of crime, rhetoric and poetry. His novels include Seegfrörne (2001), Fester (2003), Usambara (2007) and Nur ein Schritt bis zu den Vögeln (2012). Seegfrörne received the Buddenbrook House Debut Prize in Lübeck. Before his academic career, he worked during school holidays as a deckhand and cashier on a ferry on Lake Constance.
