Karl-Heinz Kohl, born in 1948, is a German ethnologist who was a professor of ethnology at Goethe University Frankfurt. From 1996 to 2016, he directed the Frobenius Institute for Anthropological Research there. In 2001–2002, he was Theodor Heuss Professor at the New School for Social Research in New York. Kohl is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. His publications include the introductory work “Ethnologie” and “Die Macht der Dinge”.
