Tom Schulz was born in 1970 in Upper Lusatia and grew up in East Berlin. After working in various jobs in the construction industry from 1991 to 2001, he became a freelance author in 2002. He published poetry and prose and worked as a translator, critic, and editor. His books include the poetry collections “Vergeuden, den Tag,” “Kanon vor dem Verschwinden,” and “Die Verlegung der Stolpersteine,” as well as the prose volume “Liebe die Stare.” Schulz received, among other honors, the Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize for Literature in 2010, the Literature Prize of the Lotto Foundation Brandenburg in 2013, and the Alfred Gruber Prize in 2014.
