Paul Hoser is a historian and translator of scholarly historical texts. In 1988, he received his doctorate from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with a dissertation on the political, economic, and social background of Munich’s daily press between 1914 and 1934. His research has focused on modern and contemporary German and Bavarian history, particularly the history of the media, communication, and the public sphere, as well as regional, urban, and local history. His publications include studies on the history of Memmingen, the DNVP, the November Revolution, and denazification in Bavaria. In 2008, he co-edited, with Wolf D. Gruner, the festschrift “Wissenschaft – Bildung – Politik: Von Bayern nach Europa.”
