Wolfgang Fuhrmann (born 1966 in Vienna) is an Austrian musicologist and music writer. He studied musicology and German at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate with the dissertation “Herz und Stimme. Innerlichkeit, Affekt und Gesang im Mittelalter.” In 2010, he completed his habilitation at the University of Bern with the study “Haydn und sein Publikum. Die Veröffentlichung eines Komponisten ca. 1750 bis ca. 1815.” Fuhrmann taught, among other places, at the universities of Berlin, Leipzig, Vienna, and Bern, as well as at the Stuttgart University of Music. His research focuses include music of the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, music theater, and musical public life. As a music writer, he contributed to publications including the Vienna-based Der Standard, the Berliner Zeitung, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
