Marianne Bechhaus-Gerst

Marianne Bechhaus-Gerst studied African Studies, Egyptology and political science in Cologne and Bayreuth. She was an adjunct professor at the Institute of African Studies at the University of Cologne. Her research focuses include the history of African-German encounters, people of African descent in Germany, Africa in everyday culture, and Nilo-Saharan and Afroasiatic languages. She edited the series “Africa and Europe. Colonial and Postcolonial Encounters / Afrika und Europa. Koloniale und Postkoloniale Begegnungen.”
