Stella Gaitano

Stella Gaitano (born 1979 in Khartoum) is a South Sudanese writer, journalist, and human rights activist. She has published short stories in Arabic as well as the collections *Zouhor Zabila* and *The Return*, both of which have been translated into English. Her debut novel, *Eddo’s Souls* (2018), published in German as *Eddos goldenes Lächeln*, received an English PEN Translates Award in 2020. Gaitano’s work addresses war, displacement, and identity, often focusing on marginalized and displaced women from war-affected regions.
