Julia Schoch (born 1974 in Bad Saarow, Germany) grew up in Mecklenburg and studied German and Romance languages and literature. She is known as a writer and translator of French literature. Her works include the story collection “Der Körper des Salamanders” (2001), the novels “Mit der Geschwindigkeit des Sommers” and “Schöne Seelen und Komplizen,” and the trilogy “Biographie einer Frau,” comprising “Das Vorkommnis,” “Das Liebespaar des Jahrhunderts,” and “Wild nach einem wilden Traum.” Schoch has received, among other honors, the Jury Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition, the André Gide Prize, the 2022 Honorary Gift of the Deutsche Schillerstiftung, the 2023 Schubart Literature Prize, and the 2024 Mainz City Writer Literature Prize.
