Olga Grjasnowa

Olga Grjasnowa was born in 1984 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and grew up in the Caucasus. She studied at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig and spent extended periods in Poland, Russia and Israel. In 2011, she received the Grenzgänger scholarship from the Robert Bosch Foundation. Her debut novel, “The Russian Is One Who Loves Birch Trees,” won the Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize and the Anna Seghers Prize in 2012. It was followed by, among others, “The Legal Uncertainty of a Marriage” (2014) and “God Is Not Shy” (2017). Her works have been translated into several languages and adapted for the stage.
