Kristine Bilkau

Kristine Bilkau, born in 1974, is a writer and freelance journalist. She studied history and American studies in Hamburg and New Orleans. Her debut novel, *Die Glücklichen* (2015), received the Franz Tumler Prize, the Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize and the Hamburg Literature Promotion Award, and was translated into several languages. It was followed by the novels *Eine Liebe, in Gedanken*, *Nebenan* and *Halbinsel*. For *Nebenan*, Bilkau received the Hamburg Literature Prize for Best Novel; the book was also shortlisted for the 2022 German Book Prize. *Halbinsel* received the 2025 Leipzig Book Fair Prize.
