Hussein Mohammadi was born in Afghanistan in 1986 and grew up in Iran. He began painting and writing at an early age. In 2006, his work was first exhibited in Tehran. His first two novels were censored by the Iranian government and remained unpublished; his third novel, “Symphony of Love,” was eventually published. After fleeing to Switzerland in 2013, Mohammadi performed as an actor with the Malaika theater project and at Experi Theater Zurich. In 2016, his exhibition “A Painting. A Story,” featuring paintings and short stories, was held in Zurich. His fairy tale “The Clean Glasses” was broadcast by Radio SRF. “The Heirs of Scheherazade” was developed through the literary portal Weiter Schreiben Schweiz and became his first novel to appear in German translation.
