Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili, born in 1983 in Tbilisi, Georgia, became known as a German-language novelist, playwright, and theatre director. Her debut novel, »Juja«, was published in 2010. Her international breakthrough came with the family saga »The Eighth Life (For Brilka)« (2014), which was translated into numerous languages and became an international bestseller. Her other works include »My Gentle Twin«, »The Cat and the General«, and »The Lack of Light«. Haratischwili’s work has received numerous awards, including the Anna Seghers Literature Prize, the Bertolt Brecht Prize, the Literature Prize of the Cultural Circle of German Business, and the Schiller Memorial Prize. »The Cat and the General« was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2018.
