Sam Zamrik, born in 1996 in Damascus, Syria, is a poet, musician and translator. He studied English language and literature at the University of Damascus, where he co-founded the poetry club “The Poet’s Society.” He later earned a bachelor’s degree in politics and literature from Bard College Berlin. Zamrik worked as a band manager and lyricist within the underground music movement “New Wave of Syrian Metal.” His texts have appeared through the “Weiter Schreiben” initiative and in German newspapers including die taz and Der Tagesspiegel. His poetry collections include “Ich bin nicht” and “Sophistry of Survival.”
