Heike Gerdes (born 1964) worked as an editor at several daily newspapers in Lower Saxony after completing an editorial traineeship, and later as a freelance contributor to newspapers, magazines, and an online magazine. In 2000, she founded Leda Verlag, which transferred to Gmeiner Verlag in 2020. From 2011 to 2022, she ran the crime-bookshop “Tatort Taraxacum” in Leer; the shop received the German Bookshop Prize twice during her tenure. Gerdes published, among other works, the crime novel “Sturm im Zollhaus” and the short-story collection “Gesprochene Verbrechen.” She was a member of Syndikat, an association for German-language crime literature.
