Gitta Edelmann (born 1961) was born on the edge of the Black Forest and initially worked as a translator, language teacher and tour guide, including in Rio de Janeiro, Edinburgh and Bonn. She later published novels, short stories and children’s books in the crime, historical and fantasy genres. Her works include the cosy-crime series “MacTavish & Scott”, the Canterbury crime novels and children’s books such as “Ludwig und die Suche nach dem Geheimcode”. Under the pen name Freda MacBride, she wrote Regency novels; with Regine Kölpin, she also published books under the name Felicitas Kind. In 2020, she and Kölpin received the Bronze Homer for “Johannes Gutenberg und die verschwundenen Lettern”.
