Thomas Kastura, born in Bamberg in 1966, studied German and history at the University of Bamberg, where he also worked as a lecturer. From 1996 onward, he worked as an author for Bavarian Broadcasting. He published short stories, books for young readers, and crime novels. His novel *Der vierte Mörder* reached number one on the KrimiWelt crime fiction bestseller list in 2007. In the same year, Kastura was writer-in-residence in Rottweil.
