Thomas Kastura was born in Bamberg in 1966 and studied German and history. After working as a lecturer at the University of Bamberg, he began working as an author for Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1996. He wrote short stories, books for young readers, crime novels and thrillers. His crime novel The Fourth Murder reached number one on the KrimiWelt best-books list in 2007. Kastura was writer-in-residence in Rottweil in 2007 and received the Friedrich Glauser Prize in 2017.
