Yael Inokai

Yael Inokai, born in Basel in 1989, studied philosophy in Basel and Vienna and completed a screenwriting program at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. Before pursuing a literary career, she worked as a tour guide. Her debut novel, *Storchenbiss*, was published in 2012, followed by *Mahlstrom*, which received the Swiss Literature Award in 2018. For *Ein simpler Eingriff* (2022), she received the Anna Seghers Prize in 2022 and the Clemens Brentano Prize in 2023. Inokai has also published in literary journals and on Zeit Online, served as Hildesheim city writer, and was an editorial member of the journal *PS: Politisch Schreiben*. Her works have been translated into seven languages.
