Karosh Taha was born in 1987 in Zakho, Iraq. As a child, she fled Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship with her family and moved to Germany; from 1997 onward, she lived in the Ruhr region. She studied English and history at the University of Duisburg-Essen and English studies in Kansas, USA. Her debut novel, “Beschreibung einer Krabbenwanderung,” was published in 2018, followed by “Im Bauch der Königin” and “Gulistan.” Her literary work has received, among other distinctions, the Hohenems Literature Prize, the Alfred Döblin Medal, and a fellowship from the German Literature Fund.
