Rasha Khayat

Rasha Khayat was born in Dortmund in 1978 and grew up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, returning to Germany with her family at the age of eleven. She studied comparative literature, German studies and philosophy in Bonn. In 2005, she began working as a freelance writer, translator and lecturer; she translates from English and Arabic. Her debut novel, *Weil wir längst woanders sind*, was published in 2016. Her work has received, among other honors, the Grenzgänger Fellowship from the Robert Bosch Stiftung and a work grant from the German Literature Fund.
