Mikael Vogel

Born in 1975, Mikael Vogel has published poetry and prose in journals as well as several poetry collections. His early books include “Kassandra im Fenster” (2008, co-written with Friederike Mayröcker and Bettina Galvagni), “O Wildnis Dunkelheit! – Nachtgedichte” (2009), and “Massenhaft Tiere” (2011). These were followed by “Morphine” (2014) and “Dodos auf der Flucht. Requiem für ein verlorenes Bestiarium” (2018), a collection of poems and essays about extinct and endangered animal species and the stories of their eradication. Vogel received the Hermann Lenz Fellowship in 2002 and a Yakiuta Fellowship in 2015. In 2016, work from “Dodos auf der Flucht” received the RAI Südtirol Media Prize at the Merano Poetry Prize; in 2019, he received the Baden-Württemberg Literature Fellowship and the LeseLenz Fellowship as Hausach’s writer-in-residence.
