Odile Kennel, born in 1967 in Bühl, Baden, grew up bilingual in German and French. She studied cultural and political studies in Tübingen, Berlin and Lisbon, and cultural management in Bucharest and Dijon. From 1996 to 2004, she worked in cultural mediation. Her books include the novels “Was Ida sagt” (2011) and “Mit Blick auf See” (2017), and the poetry collections “oder wie heißt diese interplanetare Luft” (2013) and “Hors Texte” (2019). Kennel translated poetry from French, Portuguese, Spanish and English and wrote in German and French. “Mit Blick auf See” was nominated for the Alfred Döblin Prize; in 2021 she was a finalist for the Meran Poetry Prize, and in 2022 she received the Paul Scheerbart Prize for her poetry translations.
