Daniela Dahn (born in Berlin in 1949) studied journalism in Leipzig and initially worked as a television journalist, including for a youth program and the business magazine »Prisma«. In 1981, she left television journalism to become a freelance writer and publicist. Dahn was a founding member of Demokratischer Aufbruch and held visiting teaching positions in the United States and the United Kingdom. Her literary and political work has been recognized with, among others, the Fontane Prize, the Kurt Tucholsky Prize for Literary Journalism, the Louise Schroeder Medal of the City of Berlin, and the Ludwig Börne Prize.
