Walter van Rossum (born 1954) is a German author and publicist. He studied Romance languages and literature, philosophy, and history in Cologne and Paris, completing a doctorate in 1988. After working as a research assistant at the University of Cologne, he became a freelance writer and contributed to outlets including WDR, Deutschlandfunk, DIE ZEIT, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His early publications focused on the work of Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. He also became known for books critiquing the media, including »Meine Sonntage mit Sabine Christiansen« (2004) and »Die Tagesshow« (2007). In 2021, he co-wrote »Die Intensiv-Mafia« with Tom Lausen; he also published »Meine Pandemie mit Professor Drosten«. According to the publisher biographies, both books became Spiegel bestsellers.
