Kerstin Hensel

Kerstin Hensel was born in 1961 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz. After training as a surgical nurse, she studied at the Institute of Literature in Leipzig. From 1987 onward, she worked as a freelance writer and was active as a lecturer at the Ernst Busch University of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Her work includes poetry, short stories, and novels, including Falscher Hase, Lärchenau, Federspiel, and Regenbeins Farben. Hensel received, among other distinctions, the Anna Seghers Prize and the Leonce and Lena Prize.
