Ulrich Tilgner (born 1948 in Bremen) was a German journalist and author. From 1980 onward, he reported as a correspondent from the Middle East and Central Asia, working among others for ZDF and Swiss Television. From 1986 to 2001, he was based in Amman; he subsequently headed the ZDF bureau in Tehran and worked as a special correspondent. From 2008, he reported mainly for Swiss Television from the region. In 2003, he received the Hanns-Joachim-Friedrichs Prize for his coverage of the Iraq War. His book “Der inszenierte Krieg. Täuschung und Wahrheit beim Sturz Saddam Husseins” became a bestseller.
