William Finnegan

Born in 1952, William Finnegan is an American journalist and author. From 1987 onward, he worked as a journalist for The New Yorker and wrote acclaimed reportage on subjects including the civil war in Sudan, apartheid in South Africa, and neo-Nazis in California. He also worked as a war correspondent. In 2016, his autobiographical book Barbarian Days won the Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography. Finnegan began surfing at the age of eleven, a passion that plays a central role in Barbarian Days.
