Rabih Alameddine, born in Jordan in 1959, has worked as a writer and painter. His novels include A Woman of No Importance and The Angel of History. His literary work has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, the Rome Prize for Best International Book of the Year, the Prix Femina Étranger, the John Dos Passos Prize for Literature, and the PEN/Faulkner Award.
