Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi, born in Ghana in 1989, grew up in the southern United States. She studied English literature at Stanford University and earned a degree from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her debut novel, *Homegoing* (2017), spent several weeks on the bestseller lists in the United States and the United Kingdom, was translated into more than 20 languages, and received several awards, including the PEN/Hemingway Award.
