Sandra Hetzl (born 1980 in Munich) studied Visual Culture Studies at Berlin University of the Arts and translated contemporary Arabic literature into German. Her translations include works by Rasha Abbas, Kadhem Khanjar, Aref Hamza, Bushra al-Maktari and Assaf Alassaf; together with Kerstin Wilsch, she translated the collection “Poems from Guantánamo” (2022). Hetzl also co-edited the anthology “In der Zukunft schwelgen” (2022). She founded the 10/11 collective for contemporary Arabic literature and the Downtown Spandau Medina literature festival.
