Stefanie Hirsbrunner

Stefanie Hirsbrunner (born 1980) is a political scientist and trained hotel professional. After completing her vocational training at a German five-star hotel and working in the hotel industry for several years, she spent an extended period in West Africa before studying political science. She worked as a university lecturer and freelance trainer, focusing on Africa and intercultural competence. Hirsbrunner has published nonfiction books and essays, including “Sorry about Colonialism … Weiße Helden in kontemporären Hollywoodfilmen” (2012) and “Hotel Fünf Sterne.” In 2016, she co-edited the anthology “Afrika: Radikal neu denken?” She was also involved with the InterKontinental bookshop, which received the German Bookshop Prize in 2021.
