Aeham Ahmad was born in Damascus in 1988 and grew up in Yarmouk. He received musical encouragement from the age of four and began piano lessons at the Arab Institute in Damascus at seven. He later studied music education in Homs and worked as a music teacher. In 2015, he fled the war and went to Germany. He gained international attention by playing the piano amid the ruins of Yarmouk as a statement against war, hunger, and exclusion. That same year, he received the International Beethoven Prize for Human Rights. In 2023, he was awarded the Yorum Prize by the Tenco Club Sanremo for his artistic commitment to freedom of expression and human rights.
