Kien Nghi Ha (born 1972 in Hanoi) is a scholar of cultural and political studies and a writer. In 1979, he came to Berlin as a Vietnamese boat-person refugee. His academic and journalistic work addresses postcolonial critique, racism, migration, cultural hybridity, and Asian diasporas in the German context. His publications include “Ethnizität und Migration Reloaded” (1999/2004), “Hype um Hybridität” (2005), “Unrein und vermischt” (2010), and the edited volume “Asiatische Deutsche. Vietnamesische Diaspora and Beyond” (2021). “Unrein und vermischt” received the Augsburg Science Prize for Intercultural Studies in 2011. Ha has also worked as a curator.
