Julio Mendivil

Julio Mendívil was born in Lima, Peru, in 1963. He initially worked as a performer of traditional music from the Peruvian Andes before turning to ethnomusicology. He studied musicology, specializing in ethnomusicology, in Cologne, received his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 2007, and completed his habilitation at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover in 2010. Mendívil has published numerous articles in ethnomusicological and humanities journals in Latin America and Europe.
