Mita Banerjee is an American studies scholar whose academic career included professorships at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the University of Siegen. Her research addressed postcolonial literature, naturalization and citizenship, medical humanities, Indian literature in the diaspora, and ethnic self-representation in contemporary American culture. She has authored six monographs, including “The Chutneyfication of History” (2002) and “Race-ing the Century” (2005).
