Stephen Lawson is a sculptor. He undertook work residencies in France, the United States and the Caribbean. In 1995, he organized the first group exhibition of Black artists in Berlin. His first solo exhibition, “Blicke unserer Ahnen,” was held in 1997. Other exhibition projects include “Rufe – Zeuge – Ahne” at the Frankfurt Film Museum (1999), “Fern-seh-en-de” as part of the Wegmarken project in the Hellweg region (2000), “Farben des Geistes,” a joint exhibition with Yvonne Buntrock at the Documentation and Cultural Centre of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg (2003), and “...eine vergessene Kolonialgeschichte” at the State Museum in Oldenburg (2005).
