Dirk Uwe Hansen (born 1963 in Eckernförde, Germany) is a poet, translator and classical philologist. He studied Classical Philology in Hamburg and Cologne and worked as a research associate at the University of Greifswald from 1995 onward. His academic work includes the dissertation “Das attizistische Lexikon des Moeris,” published in 1998. Hansen translated works from Ancient and Modern Greek, including Lucian’s “On the Death of Peregrine,” the “Theognidea” and Phoebe Giannisi’s poetry collection “Homerika.” His poetry books include “Sirenen” (2011), “Sappho – Scherben – Skizzen” (2012), “zwischen unge/sehnen orten” (2013) and “wolkenformate” (2016).
