Sebastian Kleinschmidt

Sebastian Kleinschmidt (born 1948 in Schwerin) is a German publisher, essayist, and literary editor. After training as an electrical signal technician and serving four years as a radio operator in the East German navy, he studied history, philosophy, and aesthetics in Leipzig and Berlin, receiving a doctorate in 1978. From 1978 to 1983, he worked as a research associate at the Central Institute for the History of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR. He subsequently worked for the journal Sinn und Form, serving as its editor-in-chief from 1991 to 2013. His publications include the essay collections Gegenüberglück, Spiegelungen, and Lob der Autorität, as well as numerous edited volumes, including works by Walter Benjamin and Georg Lukács.
