Ludwig Fels (1946–2021) was a German writer. Born in Treuchtlingen in Franconia, he published numerous novels, poetry and prose collections, as well as works for the theatre and radio, from 1973 onward. He became known to a wider audience with the novels “Ein Unding der Liebe” (1981) and “Kanakenfauna” (1982). His later works include “Die Hottentottenwerft” (2015) and “Mondbeben” (2020). Fels received several awards, including the Leonce and Lena Prize, the Wolfgang Koeppen Prize, the City of Nuremberg’s Grand Literature Prize, and the Wolfram von Eschenbach Prize.
