Chaim Noll, born in Berlin in 1954 as Hans Noll, is a German writer and journalist. He is the son of the writer Dieter Noll. He initially studied mathematics and later art and art history. In 1980, he refused military service in the GDR; after moving to West Berlin, he published his first books and worked as a journalist and freelance author. From 1988 or 1989 to 1991, he was a research associate at the Free University of Berlin. After a period in Rome, he moved to Israel in 1995 and received Israeli citizenship in 1998. From 1998 to 2019, he was a writer in residence and lecturer at the Center for German Studies at Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva. He published numerous books and media contributions.
