Daniel Kehlmann was born in Munich in 1975 and grew up in Munich and Vienna. He studied philosophy and German and literary studies. His novel »Ich und Kaminski« brought him international recognition in 2003; »Measuring the World« (2005) became one of the most successful novels of postwar German literature. His other notable works include »Tyll« and »Lichtspiel«, as well as several plays. Kehlmann has received numerous literary awards, including the Candide Prize, the Heimito von Doderer Prize, the Kleist Prize, the Thomas Mann Prize, the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize, and the WELT Literature Prize.
