Claus Leggewie (born 1950) is a German political scientist and author. He studied in Cologne and Paris from 1968 onward and taught political science at Justus Liebig University Giessen. From 2007 to 2017, he was director of the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen and co-editor of the journal »Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik«. He also held visiting professorships, including at Université Paris-Nanterre and New York University. His research focuses on migration, democracy, political ecology, sustainability, and the role of collective memory. His books include »Die 89er. Portrait einer Generation« (1995), »Politik im 21. Jahrhundert« (2001), »Die Türkei und Europa« (2004), »Anti-Europäer« (2016), and »Reparationen: im Dreieck Frankreich, Algerien, Deutschland« (2022).
