Mehrnousch Zaeri-Esfahani (born 1974 in Isfahan, Iran) came to Germany with her family in 1985. She studied social pedagogy and began working in refugee assistance in 1999. Among other roles, she served as chair of the Refugee Council of Baden-Württemberg. In 2002, she received the Democracy Award of the German Bundestag for developing the game “Asylopoly”; in 2012, she received the Innovation Award of Diakonie Baden for establishing a free pool of interpreters. From 2017 onward, she worked as a freelance author and speaker.
