Emilia Roig

Emilia Roig (born 1983) is a political scientist with a doctorate and an author. She founded the Berlin-based Center for Intersectional Justice (CIJ), a nonprofit organization focused on social justice and opposing systemic discrimination, and served as its executive director. Roig taught at universities in Germany, France and the United States on intersectionality, postcolonial studies, critical race theory, feminism, and international and European law. Before completing her doctorate, she worked on human rights issues for the United Nations in Tanzania and Uganda, GIZ in Cambodia, and Amnesty International in Germany. She grew up in France in an Algerian-Jewish-Caribbean family. Her books include *Why We Matter* (2021) and *Das Ende der Ehe* (2023). Roig served on the jury for the 2020 German Nonfiction Prize and was named an Ashoka Fellow, among other distinctions.
