Martin Baltscheit

Martin Baltscheit (born 1965) is a German author, illustrator, actor, voice performer and director. He studied communication design in Essen and began his career as a comic artist; in 1996, he was nominated for the Max and Moritz Award as Best German Comic Artist. He is best known for the picture book “The Story of the Lion Who Couldn’t Write.” In 2011, he received the German Youth Literature Prize for “The Story of the Fox Who Lost His Mind.” His work for theatre, radio plays and film has also received recognition, including the German Youth Theatre Prize and the German Short Film Award.
