Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf

Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf (born 1962 in Mannheim) is a composer and author. He studied composition, music theory, piano, musicology, philosophy, and sociology, including with Brian Ferneyhough, Klaus Huber, and Jürgen Habermas. From 2005 onward, he taught composition at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. His publications include “Mit den Ohren denken. Adornos Philosophie der Musik” (“Thinking with the Ears: Adorno’s Philosophy of Music”), co-edited with Richard Klein, and “Philosophie des Orgasmus” (“Philosophy of the Orgasm”). His compositional output encompasses various genres.
