Volker Surmann (born 1972) is an author, satirist and publisher. He spent around twenty years performing as a cabaret artist and comedian and worked as a writer for TV comedy formats such as “Mensch Markus” and “Was guckst Du?”. In 2011, he founded Satyr Verlag, a publishing house for humor and satire. His publications include the novels “Die Schwerelosigkeit der Flusspferde” (2010), “Extremely Cold Water” (2014) and “Mami, warum sind hier nur Männer?” (2015), as well as several short-story collections and anthologies. “Leon Hertz und die Sache mit der Traurigkeit” is his first book for young readers.
