Barbara Mesquita

Barbara Mesquita (born 1959 in Bremen) studied Romance philology at the University of Hamburg, where she completed a master’s degree. She worked as a conference interpreter and literary translator from Portuguese and Spanish, with a particular focus on the Lusophone countries of Africa. Among the authors she translated are Pepetela, Patrícia Melo, Luís Fernando Veríssimo, Luandino Vieira, Arménio Vieira, Ricardo Adolfo, Pedro Rosa Mendes, João Tordo and Juan Manuel de Prada. In 2015, she edited the anthology *Angola entdecken*.
