Josephine Apraku

Josephine Apraku is an African studies scholar, author, and educator specializing in intersectional, anti-racist education. Apraku taught at Alice Salomon University Berlin and Humboldt University of Berlin. Together with Jule Bönkost, Apraku founded the Institute for Discrimination-Free Education (IDB) and led the educational project “Hier und jetzt! Kolonialismus und Kolonialrassismus im Schulunterricht” at ARiC Berlin e.V. from 2016 to 2018. Apraku’s writing has appeared in publications including Missy Magazine, EDITION F, Vogue Germany, and the Tagesspiegel. Their books include “Kluft und Liebe” (2022), “Mein Workbook über Rassismus” (2023), and the children’s book “Tschüss Uroma” (2023). “Mein Workbook über Rassismus” was named one of Germany’s most beautiful books by the Stiftung Buchkunst in 2024.
