Matthias Meisner (born 1961) is a journalist and author. In the 1990s, he worked as a dpa bureau chief in Dresden and as Bonn correspondent for the Sächsische Zeitung. From 1999 to 2021, he was an editor at the Tagesspiegel. His reporting focused particularly on domestic political issues, including right-wing extremism. In 2016, he received the second prize of the Wächterpreis der deutschen Tagespresse for his reporting on the Pegida movement and the anti-asylum movement in Saxony. Together with Heike Kleffner, he edited the books Unter Sachsen. Zwischen Wut und Willkommen (2017), Extreme Sicherheit. Rechtsradikale in Polizei, Verfassungsschutz, Bundeswehr und Justiz (2019), and Fehlender Mindestabstand. Die Coronakrise und die Netzwerke der Demokratiefeinde (2021).
