Toralf Staud (born 1972) studied journalism and philosophy in Leipzig and Edinburgh. From 1998 to 2005, he was a political editor at the German weekly Die Zeit, after which he worked as a freelance journalist and author. His work focuses on far-right extremism and climate change. His books include »Moderne Nazis. Die neuen Rechten und der Aufstieg der NPD« (2005) and »Das Buch gegen Nazis« (2009), as well as »Wir Klimaretter« (2007) and »Deutschland 2050«, both co-written with Nick Reimer. He was involved in building the science portal klimafakten.de from 2011 onward. In 2016, he received the German Reporter Award for data journalism as part of a team from Die Zeit and Zeit Online.
